Doreen Ewert (Ph.D.)

Doreen Ewert (Ph.D.) is Professor in the Department of Rhetoric and Language and Director of the Academic English for Multilingual Students Program at the University of San Francisco. She is also Visiting Professor at LCC International University in Lithuania, where she teaches MA TESOL courses. Her teaching and research focus on several aspects of second language learning and teaching for pre-academic and matriculated adult language learners: language teacher development, curriculum and program design and implementation, second language literacy development, content-based instruction, extensive reading integrated task assessment, and vocabulary development. She has directed language programs and taught undergraduate and graduate applied linguistics courses at three universities in the US, and regularly presents papers and facilitates workshops nationally and internationally for language instructors on various aspects of instructed language teaching. She has published in a variety of teacher-friendly journals such as CATESOL Journal, TESOL Journal, Journal of Second Language Writing, Language Testing, and the Journal of Basic Writing. She served on TESOL International’s Professional Development Council, and currently she is a Commissioner for the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA).
